Abstract
The regional head election in West Pasaman Regency in 2020 garnered significant attention due to the participation of five candidate pairs. The objectives of this research are: 1) To identify the spatial distribution of the vote acquisition for the regional head candidate pairs in West Pasaman Regency in 2020. 2) To determine the distribution of bases and non-bases for each regional head candidate pair in West Pasaman Regency in 2020. 3) To analyze the political identity/ethnicity, voter behavior, background, and political patronage factors influencing the vote acquisition in the 2020 regional head election in West Pasaman Regency. 4) To analyze the level of satisfaction of the community in West Pasaman Regency towards the leadership of the Regent/Vice Regent for the 2021-2024 term. This research utilizes both secondary and primary data. The analysis techniques employed for processing the results include quantitative analysis in the form of KAG (Spatial Distribution Quotient) and LQ (Location Quetiont) analysis. Qualitative descriptive analysis is used to describe the factors influencing voters in determining their choices, as well as to describe the level of community satisfaction with the leadership of the Regent/Vice Regent. The research findings reveal that Candidate Pair 01 (Hamsuardi-Risnawanto) secured a superior vote acquisition compared to the other candidate pairs. The KAG analysis result with a value of 0.181 indicates a relatively even distribution of votes across the districts in West Pasaman Regency. The LQ calculations demonstrate that Candidate Pair 01 has a basis in 6 areas, Candidate Pair 02 in 7 areas, Candidate Pair 03 in 6 areas, Candidate Pair 04 in 4 areas, and Candidate Pair 05 in 7 areas. Based on the analysis of ethnic identity, voter behavior, and candidate background, these factors play a significant role in influencing voters' choices. The success of Hamsuardi-Risnawanto's leadership, as chosen by the community, is reflected in their performance in various fields.
