Abstract
Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem caused by unmet nutritional needs, this has been going on since birth and affects children's development. The percentage of stunting under five in Indonesia in 2021 is 24.4%. Mother's education level is one of the factors in meeting the nutritional needs of families, especially children. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between family income and mother's education level with the incidence of stunting in children aged 24-59 months at the Health Center in South Sangatta District, East Kutai Regency. Method: This type of research uses observational with a cross sectional approach on 88 toddlers at the Sangatta Selatan health center. The data came from the results of measurements during the posyandu activities of the Sangatta Selatan health center which included data on toddler age, gender, nutritional status, mother's education, mother's work, and family income. Analysis uses the Chi Square method with a significance level (p < 0.05). Result: Families with high incomes are 77.3%. Mothers of toddlers who have further education are 72.7%. Toddlers who do not suffer from stunting are 76%. The results of the Chi Square statistical test on maternal education with the incidence of stunting obtained the p value = 0.458 and the results of the Chi Square statistical test were obtained from the results of the statistical test on family income with the incidence of stunting obtained a p value of 0.003. Conclusion: There is a relationship between family income and the incidence of stunting and there is no relationship between the education level of the mother and the incidence of stunting in children. The Health Service and Puskesmas can collaborate in increasing the provision of information and socializing stunting by providing education on how to make PMT for children to help raise awareness and help meet the nutritional status of toddlers.
