Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of grammatical cohesion markers in the political column of the Jawapos.com newspaper, describe the form of lexical cohesion markers in the political column of the Jawapos.com newspaper, and describe the relevance of grammatical and lexical cohesion of the political column of the Jawapos.com online newspaper to language learning. Indonesian in Middle School. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The data in this study are in the form of markers of grammatical and lexical cohesion. The data collection technique used in this study is the observing and note-taking technique. The validity of the data in this study used a theoretical triangulation technique. The data analysis technique applied in this study is referential arithmetic and equivalent. The 2 advanced techniques applied in this research are mark-reading techniques, replacement techniques and expansion techniques. The results of this study are, the grammatical cohesion markers found are 38 references, 21 conjunctions, 19 substitutions (replacement), and 12 ellipsis. The lexical cohesion markers found were 16 repetitions, 13 synonyms, 10 collocations, 5 antonyms and 5 hyponyms. Grammatical and lexical cohesion in the political column of the Jawapos.com newspaper can be taught to Indonesian language learning at Grade VIII Junior High School (SMP) with Basic Competency 4.2. Presenting data and information in the form of news orally and in writing by taking into account the structure of the language, or the oral aspects (pronunciation, intonation, expression, and kinesics).
