Abstract

This research discusses the study of Living Quran Al-Ashr in Muhammadiyah Ethics in Pekajangan. The living Quran refers to the phenomenon of the Quran being alive in society. Muhammadiyah, in its movement, draws inspiration from the Quranic verses of Al-Ashr and Al-Ma'un, which were repeatedly taught by Kyai Dahlan for several months. Kyai Dahlan's teachings earned him the title "Kyai Wal-Ashr" by the people of Pekajangan Pekalongan. This study aims to describe the understanding of Surah Al-Ashr within the framework of Muhammadiyah Ethics in Pekajangan, as well as the implementation generated by the readers' interpretation and meaning-making of the Quran. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative research design with a sociological-historical approach. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documentation, with data analysis involving data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The findings of this research indicate that the participants understand the meaning of Surah Al-Ashr as taught by Kyai Dahlan. The religious gatherings held in every branch of Muhammadiyah in Pekajangan serve as a form of social control and contribute to the development of a civil society. The activities of Muhammadiyah's charity work (AUM) have significantly increased over time in all aspects of life.
