Abstract
Editorials in newspapers are formed from a series of sentences that are related to other sentences, sentences contained in editorials cannot be separated from the function of language use. In the editorial of the online daily newspaper kompas.id there is a marker of grammatical cohesion. This study aims, (1) to describe the forms of grammatical cohesion in the editorials of the October 2022 edition of the Kompas.id online daily newspaper, (2) to describe the implications of grammatical cohesion in the editorials of the October 2022 online edition of the Kompas.id online newspaper in Indonesian language learning. The type of research used is qualitative research. The date used in this study are sentences contained in the editorials of the October 2022 edition of the Kompas.id online daily newspaper. Meanwhile, the source of this research data was taken in the editorials of the Kompas.id online daily newspaper. Data collection techniques. The reading technique is used to summarize the sentences in the editorial, while the note-taking technique is used to record the data contained in the editorial. The results of the grammatical cohesion research contained in the editorials of the October 2022 edition of the online daily newspaper Kompas.id consist of references (references) found 21 data consisting of persona references and demonstration references. Substitution (replacement) found 12 data. Ellipses (detachment) found 2 data, and conjunctions (coupling) found 45 data consisting of subordinating conjunctions and coordinating conjunctions (cause markers, destination markers, conditional markers, and conflict markers). The grammatical cohesion found is 80 data. The results of this study are applied in learning Indonesian in exposition texts.
