Abstract

Brakes function to slow down and stop the vehicle. This analysis aims to determine the type of damage to the forklift brake system, determine the consequences of the causes of the braking system and find out the corrective steps for the Shantui SF-30 forklift brake system. The company made a report that the brakes of the Shantui SF-30 forklift were not working, then the unit was checked and tested. The inspection procedure is carried out by conducting a performance test. Visual inspection is also carried out on the brake pedal and brake pipes. Furthermore, an analysis of the type of damage to the brake system is carried out. The results of the analysis are oil leaks in the wheel cylinder and piston rod wear. The wheel cylinder functions to transmit hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder to the brake mechanism. Oil leaks in the wheel cylinder are caused by the seal being inelastic or hard, resulting in oil seeping and causing the brake shoe diameter to not increase. Problems and wear and tear can be reduced by implementing proper maintenance and replacement of the wheel cylinder. The important thing is to do P2H and periodic component maintenance on the unit.
