Abstract
The increasing life expectancy of the population and the number of elderly people indicate that Indonesia is entering the aging population period. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) noted that the percentage of the elderly population in Indonesia was 15.53% in 2022 where the city of Yogyakarta was one of the cities with the largest elderly population nationally. The phenomenon of elderly cases in D.I Yogyakarta is most commonly found in Gunungkidul Regency such as neglected elderly, suicides, kidnappings and the lack of elderly care facilities. The trigger for the emergence of these phenomena is caused by the elderly often feeling anxiety, isolation and loneliness. Therefore, the desire of the elderly to socialize with others plays an important role in their lives. Based on these problems, designing an elderly care facility in the form of an Elderly Care Center can be a new hope for the elderly to improve their welfare and quality of life in old age. The design concept emphasizes the homelike setting architectural approach (presenting an atmosphere like home) so as to create a sense of kinship by accommodating social interaction among the elderly and providing comfort and security of access for the elderly in activities with all the limitations they have in meeting their needs. The relevant concept development is in the form of elderly housing which is divided into three groups according to physical ability, potential and health coaching service facilities, therapy garden and communal space..
