Abstract

Various learning media are now in great demand and attract students' attention to the enthusiasm for learning. Video media as a form of learning media is highly sought after among students because it has a very effective and fun appeal. The aims of the research were to analyze: 1) Students' knowledge of Indonesian population dynamics was examined by posttest and pretest 2) The level of effectiveness of video media in the geography learning process. This research is a quantitative research. The design used was the Pre-Experimental One-Grup Pretest-Posttest Design. The population used was the students of SMA N 2 Sukoharjo, more precisely class XI IPS, totaling 324 students with a sample of class XI IPS 4 totaling 34 students taken purposively with consideration this class has the lowest average daily test scores. Data collection techniques include observation, tests, and documentation. The analysis technique uses the t test (Test) and N-Gain to test the hypothesis. The research results show that: 1). Students' knowledge of population dynamics on the average pretest results is 35.71 and posttest is 46.08. 2) The results of testing the hypothesis using the T-test show significant results of 0.000 <0.05 so that there is a significant difference between the posttest and pretest scores. The N-Gain value shows an average result of 14.27%. These results indicate that the Indonesian Population Dynamics material video media is less effective in improving student learning outcomes.
