Abstract

Detention centers and prisons in Indonesia are mostly overcrowded due to the capacity of detention centers and prisons that are not equal to the number of detainees. This results in users or detainees not getting proper treatment such as facilities and other factors. Therefore, the living environment in the detention center becomes less productive in terms of guidance, crime occurs in the detention center to health problems. Therefore, it is necessary to plan the design of the detention center by the life and activities that occur in it. The concept of humanism architecture is necessary to be applied in this design considering the state of the detention center which is far from prosperous. The theory of humanism architecture itself has a goal in the form of an architectural concept that prioritizes humans as users in the design to be created. The humanism category consists of basic human needs in the form of physiological needs, security, affection, respect, self-actualization, understanding, and aesthetics. Based on these categories, when combined with Vitruvius' theory, it will be a great humanist architecture concept.
