Abstract

The Government of the City of Solo has started realizing the Child Friendly City (KLA) program from 2006 and has been successful in receiving the Decent City award since 2011. Education is very important for the development of the city so that the need for educational and recreational facilities is urgently needed considering the use of the location to support learning facilities highly recommended by the government. The availability of facilities for children for creative and recreational activities that can be carried out outside of school is a key indicator in the cluster for fulfilling children's rights related to education, use of free time, and cultural activities. The existence of a Solo Educative Kids Center can be a non-formal recreational educational facility that can help develop children's potential to be able to think creatively which is fun and offers a different experience from that provided in schools with the learning while playing method which also has the goal of developing the quality of education so that it can improve. The use of reused materials at the Solo Educative Kids Center also pays attention to environmentally friendly aspects because the materials used are old or used materials that can and are suitable for reuse. This can also add education to children to learn to love and care for nature. The design of the Solo Educative Kids Center with the use of reused materials will also pay attention to the safety and comfort aspects of the children.
