Abstract
The most commonly used energy source is fossil fuel energy. Fossil fuels are very difficult to renew because they use materials from animal oils that have been buried for a very long time, therefore we must look for energy sources that can be renewed continuously. One of the renewable energies is wind energy, this wind is very environmentally friendly and quite easy to find in any location. Utilization of this wind energy to create a power plant uses a four-blade U-Type savonius turbine which allows the wind to rotate the turbine more easily because there are more blades. The advantage received from the vertical type savonius turbine is that it is not too dependent on various wind directions and when designing it can be made simpler. The purpose of this research is to understand how to design a prototype of a vertical type wind power plant and get the results from the performance of the designed power plant whether it is capable of supplying the electricity generated for use in beach huts that can be accessed by visitors to charge their cellphones when needed. The test location for this tool is in Parangtritis Beach, Yogyakarta. From the results of wind measurements there, the average wind speed there is 6 m/s.
