Abstract

Surakarta City is experiencing rapid development in the economic sector and population growth, but this has a negative impact on the agricultural sector. Many productive agricultural lands have been replaced by built-up areas such as industry, housing, and offices. As a result, the area of agricultural land is decreasing every year. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to solve and solve problems in the agricultural sector in terms of architecture by building a vertical urban farming center. It is hoped that with the vertical urban farming center, agricultural output in Surakarta can increase because plants can be planted vertically without the need for green land. In addition, the vertical urban farming center can also function as a means of education and recreation for the community, so they can learn about plant cultivation and utilize green open space (RTH) as a tourist spot. Surakarta City was chosen as the site location in the Vertical Urban farming design planning because there are no facilities that can accommodate activities or support to develop agricultural cultivation that can overcome problems in Surakarta City. Therefore, an approach is needed that can overcome these problems in a sustainable manner. The approach used in designing this vertical urban farming center is high-tech. It is hoped that this vertical urban farming center in Surakarta can be an alternative to agricultural problems in Surakarta
