Abstract

In the last few months, Indonesia has been hit by a scarcity of cooking oil. Where Indonesia is one of thealargest in theaworld inaterms of palm oil production but Indonesia is experiencing a scarcity of cooking oil and domestic cooking oil prices are rising. According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI) scarcity is taken from the word rare which means an object or thing that is rarely found, rarely occurs, rarely exists, or has a small numerical noun. In a broad sense, scarcity is something, be it inanimate objects or living things that are rarely found or have a small amount in their existence. Theamethod used in thisaresearch is juridical-normative. The scarcity of cooking oil that occurred in Indonesia is a big case and even takes months to deal with this scarcity problem, many assumptions are made by the public and government officials such as the existence of cartels, large-scale exports without permits, and hoarding from entrepreneurs to get more profit. Even so, Indonesia is a legal state governed by applicable laws. This study aims to determine the legal construction which includes the subject and object ofathe scarcity of cooking oil in Indonesia and how law enforcement is tasked with overcoming the problem of scarcity of cooking oil in accordanceawith theaalaws inaforce inaIndonesia.
