Abstract
Cikampek is a sub-district in Karawang Regency, West Java Province. Cikampek's distance to the center of Karawang City is ± 25 Km. The existence of the Industrial Estate is a magnet for migrant residents to come to Cikampek Sub-district. In addition to attracting residents to work as factory workers or residents directly affected by the existence of industrial estates, it also attracts residents not directly affected to sell around the industrial area in Cikampek Sub-district. This study has the following objectives: 1) Analyzing the differences in socio-economic conditions of non-migrants and migrants directly affected in the Cikampek District Industrial Area 2) Analyzing the differences in socio-economic conditions of non-migrants and migrants not directly affected in the Cikampek District Industrial Area 3) Knowing the distribution of the area of origin of migrant residents in the Cikampek District Industrial Area. The method used is the survey method and the sampling method uses non probability sampling with stratified quota sampling technique. The results showed 1) Directly affected residents in the industrial area both migrants and non-migrants are dominated by male workers with an average age of non-migrants of 27 years and migrants of 28 years, the average working hours are 8 hours per day and the average monthly income of non-migrant workers is Rp. 6,196,000 and migrant workers of Rp. 6,324,000. 2) The population not directly affected in the industrial area, both migrant and non-migrant, is dominated by male traders with an average age of non-migrants of 34 years and migrants of 35 years, the average selling hour is 8 hours per day and the average monthly income of non-migrant traders is Rp. 5,400,000 and migrant traders of Rp. 5,600,000. 3) The distribution of areas of origin of migrants of directly affected residents or factory workers is dominated by Central Java Province as many as 12 respondents spread across 7 different districts and residents not directly affected or traders are dominated by West Java Province as many as 10 respondents spread across 6 different districts.
