Abstract

The research aims to determine the feasibility of establishing a BSF fly farming business in the city of Balikpapan, which is assessed from market-marketing, financial and technical-technological aspects. This study uses two methods, namely qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative methods are used to analyze market-marketing aspects, SWOT analysis, as well as technical and technological aspects while quantitative methods are used to analyze financial aspects. The market and marketing aspects show good prospects for starting a business in terms of market potential and the marketing mix that has been implemented. The technical and technological aspects show that production can be carried out by analyzing the production process, raw materials and equipment requirements. The financial aspect shows that the Payback Period value is 13 months, the NPV value is positive and the IRR value is 80,88% greater than the predetermined 20% DF. The results of the research show that market and marketing aspects, technical and technological aspects, financial aspects of the establishment of black soldier fly cultivation in the city of Balikpapan are feasible to run.
