Abstract
Programming ability is one of the important aspects that must be mastered by students in this modern era. There are various programming languages, one of which is C++. Therefore, a live coding learning tool is needed to support students' abilities through contests on the Hackerrank application. In this study using the True Experiment method and using one of the Online Judge applications for coding, namely Hackerrank. In the development of this contest, it has been tested by material experts who got a validity value of 0.8125 and in the process of this research has conducted trials on 2 Class X TKJ at SMK N 1 Purwodadi with 36 students each acting as the experimental class and the control class. According to the results of the UAS scores for the two classes, it was found that the experimental class had a score of 5.36% higher than the control class. And 41.7% of students said they were interested in learning more about coding. According to the results obtained, it can be concluded that the use of Hackerrank has no effect on students' understanding and can increase students motivation in learning C++ Programming.
