Abstract
This research aims to: (1) analyzing the danger level of the phyroclastic density flow from Semeru Volcano in Candipuro Sub-District; (2) analyzing the level of vulnerability of the population in Candipuro Sub-District; (3) analyzing the level and distribution of the risk of phyroclastic density flow from Semeru Volcano in the Candipuro Sub-District. The method used is the secondary data analysis with qualitative-quantitative analysis which is strengthened by the phyroclastic density flow risk validation test using the observation method. The secondary data analysis method is using satellite image interpretation techniques to compare the impact of the eruption of Semeru Volcano with adjustments to the map of the disaster-prone areas of Semeru Volcano in the southeastern sector and quantitative risk assessment techniques based on the hazard index, vulnerability index and risk of phyroclastic density flow index. This study concludes that the distribution of danger and risk of phyroclastic density flow lies in areas close to the main streams of the Semeru Volcano eruption, namely Besuk Kobokan, Kali Lanang, Besuk Semut, and the Mujur River. There are two villages that have high hazard and high risk classes, namely Sumbermujur Village and Sumberwuluh Village. The level of vulnerability is also spread evenly with a moderate vulnerability class in ten villages in Candipuro District. Overall, the risk level of hot clouds is divided into four classes with an index of 0-1, namely high risk class (0.7-1), medium risk class (0.4-0.6), low risk class (0.1-0.3), and the class is not at risk (0). Low to high risk classes are spread following the hot cloud hazard zone, while the non-risk class is an area that is not included in the hot cloud hazard area of Semeru Volcano. Areas that are not at risk must still be vigilant, because phyroclastic density flow from Semeru Volcano always threaten with higher intensity. The intensity of the phyroclastic density flow is affected by the growth of the lava dome, gravity, and the slope of the slopes of the Southeastern sector of Semeru Volcano, so that there is a need for vigilance from the public to minimize losses. Keywords : Risk, Phyroclastic Density Flow, Semeru Volcano
