Abstract

In this study, we will discuss the comparison of hardness increases and differences in microstructure on the surface of carbon steel using induction heating and flame heating. A flame heating machine that uses actylene gas welding and an induction heating machine that is designed to produce temperatures reaching 950℃ which is then quenched or cooled quickly from austenite temperature with distilled water media. From the results of the hardness test, it was found that AISI 1010 steel with induction treatment had a greater hardness value than AISI 1010 steel with flame heating.
