Abstract

YouTube is a media of information and entertainment that is widely enjoyed and accessed by the people of Indonesia, including children. The variety of video content presented on YouTube is quite a concern, especially harmful content such as pornographic content that is not child-friendly. Lack of parental supervision makes children easily access content that contains pornographic elements and content creators who do not comply with YouTube policies by uploading harmful content. Children as YouTube consumers are entitled to guaranteed legal protection as stated in Article 67A of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection. The purpose of this study is to describe the legal protection for child consumers against the spread of pornographic content on YouTube social media. This research uses a doctrinal approach, descriptive research type, secondary data in the form of 10 (ten) video content on YouTube, data retrieval method in the form of literature study, and data analysis method with deductive logic method. The results of reviewing 10 (ten) video contents are 3 (three) contents are in accordance with the norms without any prohibited elements and 7 (seven) other contents are contents that contain contents that violate decency and contain elements of pornography. Legal protection for children on pornographic content on YouTube is fully guaranteed through the existence of YouTube community guidelines, the YouTube kids program, the provisions of criminal sanctions in the Child Protection Law, the ITE Law, and the Anti-Pornography Law.
