Abstract

This study elaborates the greatest Trojan war caused by had impact of the human doing, as depicted in Wolfgang Petersen' Troy using Symbolism approach. The aim of this study is to find the core idea as well as message in Wolfgang Petersen's by analyzing the symbols on his film. This study belongs to qualitative study. In this method, there are two types of data source used by researcher, namely primary and secondary data sources. The primary dat source and the object of the study is the Video Compact Disk of Troy itself, meanwhile the secondary data sources are some information about Troy, the director's biography. troy film script, essay, comment, homepage and some books are related to the subject. The researcher collect the data from primary and secondary data sources in a short of document as evidence. The study uses the library research to collect the data. The collected data analyzed this by means of descriptive analysis. Having analyzed this film, the writer draws conclusion as follows: first, "troy" is a film that contains moral teaching, life picture and human nature which are expressed through symbols that are used in the structural elements of the film. Second, Wolfgang Petersen exposes that the bad aspects of human like greed, arrogance, and egoism will courage people to do wickedness and wrong doing which make suffering to many others.
