Abstract
Couples who marry young have a higher potential for conflict. These conflicts can lead to fights and even divorce if there is no resolution or settlement of these conflicts. The problem in this study is formulated as follows: does the quality of interpersonal communication and family support have a relationship with the ability to resolve conflicts in couples who marry at a young age? This study aims to determine the relationship between the quality of interpersonal communication and family support with the ability to resolve conflicts in couples who marry at a young age. The hypothesis put forward is that there is a positive relationship between the quality of interpersonal communication and family support with the ability to resolve conflicts. The population in this study were all couples who married at a young age in the Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency. Samples were taken as many as 50 people with purposive sampling technique. Collecting data using a quality scale of interpersonal communication and family support with the ability to resolve conflicts. Calculation of data analysis using product moment correlation and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study show that: (1) There is a very significant positive relationship between the quality of interpersonal communication and the ability to resolve conflicts in couples who marry young in Kartasura. The correlation value between the quality of interpersonal communication (X1) and the ability to resolve conflicts (Y) is rx1y = 0.682 (p <0.01). This means that the ability to resolve conflicts will increase if couples who marry at a young age have high quality communication; (2) There is a positive relationship between family support and the ability to resolve conflicts in couples who marry young in Kartasura. The correlation value between family support (X2) and the ability to resolve conflicts (Y) is rx2y = 0.503 (p <0.01). This means that the ability to resolve conflicts will increase if couples who marry at a young age have high family support; (3) There is a positive relationship between the quality of interpersonal communication and family support simultaneously with the ability to resolve conflicts in couples who marry young in Kartasura. The multiple correlation value between the variables of the quality of interpersonal communication and family support with the ability to resolve conflicts is R = 0.741 (p <0.01). This means that the ability to resolve conflicts will increase if couples who marry at a young age have high quality of communication and family support.
