Abstract

Sragen Regency is one of the regencies in Central Java Province. The potential for religious tourism is quite high, so far the development of tourism objects has not been developed and has not been optimal for its management. Therefore, the formulation of the problem that the researcher compiled is how the potential for development along with the strategy of religious tourism objects located in Sragen Regency. The research objectives to be achieved are: (1) to analyze the potential for developing religious tourism objects in Sragen Regency, and (2) to find out the strategy for developing religious tourism objects in Sragen Regency as superior tourist objects based on the level of potential. This research method uses observation techniques which are strengthened by utilizing scoring techniques and SWOT analysis. Based on the results of the scoring analysis for each religious tourism object, the Tomb of Prince Samudro has a medium potential category level where the tourism object variable is a supporting factor, while for Eyang Srenggi's Tomb it is the lowest score with a low level of potential, which means the supporting factors and inhibiting factors balanced. The results of research on religious tourism in Sragen Regency show that the supporting factors are quite high tourist attraction, well-maintained tourism conditions, good security conditions, openness of the community towards visitors and a good level of accessibility. The inhibiting factors for religious tourism in Sragen Regency are: the absence of public transportation to reach each tour, several tourist objects whose accessibility is still lacking, the absence of lodging or hotel facilities around tourist attractions, and the lack of promotion from the government and the lack of utilization technology. The results of the SWOT analysis, the direction of developing religious tourism objects is to maintain diversity by making a tour package so that there will be more visitors, increasing direct attention from the government, improving facilities and infrastructure, creating special websites to promote tourism objects so that they are well-known to many people.
