Abstract

Allah swt has created all creatures based on nature. Allah SWT's nature for humans is in the form of being given the ability and positive strength to be able to lead to something better. Fitrah in language implies a natural innate tendency from birth. However, among mufasir the word fitrah has different meanings and understanding, among the mufasir figures is Ibnu Katsir, a scholar and an expert in the field of fiqh, also a very complete mufassir and expert on hadith, and the author of many books, one of which is the book of Tafsir Ibn Katsir. The purpose of this research is to find out the interpretation of Ibnu Katsir about the meaning of fitrah in Ibnu Katsir's Lubat Al-Tafsir. In this study using a type of library research (library research) which aims to collect data and information with the help of various library literature, both in the form of books, documents, journal articles, magazines, historical stories, and others both from primary and secondary sources. The primary source is the book of Tafsir Ibn Katsir Lubaabut Tafsir Min Ibni Katsiir trans. M.Abdul Ghofar E.M (Jakarta: Pustaka Imam Asy-Syafi'i, 2010), print I, volumes III, IV and V. Secondary sources, namely research from previous people, research on natural verses in the form of theses, journal articles, papers, documents and others that are relevant to the research. Technical analysis of data in this study using descriptive analysis. The results of this study show; First, the nature of religion is that all early humans were created to have a tendency to have a hanif religion, namely Islam, but most people do not know about it. Second, the fitrah of monotheism, namely the question of unbelievers not recognizing the day of resurrection and polytheists who do not recognize the Oneness of Allah SWT. The third nature of worship is that humans should make all their life activities to always worship and serve only Allah SWT. Worship is the overall scope of human activity in order to seek the pleasure of Allah SWT. Efforts to contextualize fitrah are carried out to restore human nature to its origins in order to avoid abuse. Keywords: Verses of Fitrah, al-Qur'an, Lubat Al- Tafsir of Ibni Katsir
