Abstract
Overweight is a nutritional problem that often occurs in college students. One of the factors that affect nutritional status is daily food consumption patterns, for example consumption of sweet drinks. Excessive consumption of sugary drinks can lead to overweight. This study aims to determine the relationship between consumption of sugary drinks and the incidence of overweight in FIK UMS students class of 2019. This type of research is observational analytic with cross sectional design. Sampling was carried out using a proportional random sampling technique. The research sample is 55 respondents. Data on consumption of sweet drinks was carried out by filling out the FFQ form regarding the consumption of sweet drinks in the past month. Nutritional status data was carried out by measuring body weight and height directly and then calculated using the BMI measurement method, namely weight(kg)/TB2(m). Statistical analysis using the Rank Spearman test. Most of the consumption of sweet drinks was in the often category (52.7%), and most of the nutritional status was in the category of not being overweight (83.6%). The Spearman Rank test results showed a value of p = 0.473 with a value of r = 0.200. There is no relationship between the consumption of sweet drinks and the incidence of overweight in students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta.
