Abstract

The aging process is a change in a person's physical, biological, social, mental, and psychosocial characteristics and how well their body and organs work. Decreases and changes in the elderly can cause the quality of sleep of the elderly to decrease. Another reason why the elderly have poor sleep quality is anxiety. The purpose of this study was to find out whether anxiety and sleep quality were related among the elderly living in Ngadirejo Village, Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency.This study used correlational with a cross-sectional design. The elderly who were registered at the posyandu of Ngadirejo Village, Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency became the sample of this study, which in total amounted to 93 respondents using the sampling method, namely proportional random sampling. The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, two questionnaires that have been validated and proven reliable by other studies, were used to collect the data. The Fisher Exact Test was used for data processing in this study. The results of the H0 study were rejected, a correlation test using the Fisher Exact Test was obtained (p-value = 0.001 < 0.05).The results of this study show that there is a relationship between the level of anxiety and the quality of sleep of the elderly in Ngadirejo Village, Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency. The conclusion is that most of the respondents are women between the ages of 60 and 74 years, the majority of the elderly do not work with primary school education levels and the majority of the elderly married marital status of the elderly in Ngadirejo Village experience mild anxiety, have poor sleep quality, and there is a relationship between the level of anxiety and the quality of sleep of the elderly in Ngadirejo Village, Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency. It is hoped that health services can be a place to tell good stories related to problems faced by the elderly so that it is hoped that the elderly can control unclear worries so as not to affect the quality of sleep of the elderly.
