Abstract
Academic procrastination is something we often hear in the world of education, especially for final year students who are working on theses. Many factors affect academic procrastination, including time management and learning motivation. So this study aims to examine the relationship between academic procrastination in thesis work with time management and learning motivation as predictors of undergraduate students at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The sample in this study were 117 active undergraduate students at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta class 2018-2021 who were working on a thesis. Purposive sampling method was used to select the sample in this study. This study uses a quantitative approach. The data collection methods in this study were the academic procrastination scale, time management scale, and learning motivation scale. The data analysis technique used in this study is the Multiple linear regression technique. The results showed that (1) simultaneously the variables of time management and learning motivation became a significant predictor of academic procrastination in students of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta who were working on thesis. (2) there is a significant negative correlation between time management and academic procrastination in thesis work for students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. (3) there is a significant negative correlation between learning motivation and academic procrastination in thesis work for students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. So it can be concluded that the major and minor hypotheses are accepted. The effective contribution of learning motivation and time management variables to academic procrastination in this study was 70.1%. The contribution of time management variables is 35.3% and learning motivation is 34.8%. while the other 29.9% is determined by other factors of academic procrastination.
