Abstract
One of the ingredients in the manufacture of concrete is cement. This causes cement production to increase rapidly which results in a longer increase in cement prices. Therefore, it is necessary to have a substitute material to suppress the rapid cement production, in this study quicklime was used as a percentage partial replacement of cement. Quicklime was chosen because the cement itself has a calcium oxide or quicklime content of 70-80% and quicklime has a relatively cheaper price than cement. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect on the compressive strength test that occurs whten the concrete age reaches 3, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days, the water absorption of concrete, and the specific gravity between normal concrete and concrete using quicklime powder as a cement substitution of 10% and 12. 5%. The guidelines of this study is using SNI 1974-2011 for the method of testing the compressive strength of concrete, SNI 03-6433-2000 for the method of testing the water absorption of concrete, and SNI 1973-2008 for the method of testing the specific gravity of concrete. The optimal percentage of the concrete compressive strength test is 25.95 MPa at percentage of 12.5%, the concrete density test is 2.335% gr/cm3 at percentage of 10%, and the water absorption test of concrete is 4.984% at a percentage of 12%.
