Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between parental parenting and addiction to online games with depression in adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hypothesis that will be proposed in this study is the relationship between parental parenting and depression in adolescents during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the relationship between online game addiction and depression in adolescents during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method used is the quantitative method. The population in this study was 45,000, namely teenagers aged 17-21 years in the city of Surakarta and its surroundings. The samples in this study were 100 with purposive sampling techniques. Based on the results of the simultaneous correlation test of multiple regression of parental parenting, online game addiction with depression obtained a value of Ry12= 0.704 with a significance level of p<0.001, thus stating that there is a significant relationship between parental parenting and online game addiction together with depression. The results of the semi-partial correlation test of parenting of parents with depression were 0.428 with a significance level of p< 0.001 which means that there is a significant positive relationship between parental parenting and depression when online game addiction is controlled. Furthermore, the results of the semi-partial correlation test of online game addiction with depression were 0.206 with a significance level of p< 0.001, which means that there is a significant positive relationship between online game addiction and depression when parental parenting is controlled. The ability of the parental parenting variable against depression was 20.6% and the ability of the online game addiction variable to depression was 42.8%.
