Abstract

Background: Malnutrition is one of the biggest nutritional problems for toddlers in Indonesia. The prevalence of underweight is 13.9%, stunting is 19.3% and wasting is 6.7% in 2018. Mother's education is indirectly related to supporting the nutritional status of toddlers. Meanwhile, PHBS practices in the household can reduce the risk of infectious diseases that can affect the nutritional status of toddlers. Objective: This study aimed to determine the correlation between mother’s education and PHBS with the nutritional status of toddlers in Manyaran District, Wonogiri Regency. Methodology: This study used a cross-sectional design. The data instrument used secondary data. Data collection was carried out in July-August 2021 at the Manyaran Health Center. The samples of this research were toddlers aged 0-59 months totaling 209 toddlers. Sampling was chosen using simple random sampling technique. Mother's education was obtained from the identity data of the parents of toddlers in the annual baby registration book. The practice of household PHBS was obtained from the report on the results of the PHBS survey. The nutritional status of toddlers was obtained from the toddler weighing registration book. Statistical analysis using Chi-Square test and Fisher-Exact test. Result: Distribution of mothers under five with low education was 13.4% and high was 86.6%. Healthy household PHBS practices was 89% and unhealthy was 11%. The nutritional status of under-five children was 8.6%, stunting was 18.2% and wasting was 6.2%. The results of research statistical test showed that there was a correlation between mother's education and the nutritional status of toddlers with W/A index (p-value=<0,001), H/A (pvalue=<0,001) and W/H (p-value=<0,001). The results of research statistical test showed that there was a correlation between PHBS and the nutritional status of infants with W/A index (p-value=<0,001), H/A (p-value=0,018) and W/H (p-value=0,001). Conclusion: There was a correlation between mother's education and the nutritional status of toddlers with an index W/A, H/A and W/H. There was a correlation between PHBS with the nutritional status of toddlers with an index W/A, H/A, W/H.
