Abstract

Entering old age, various declines in body functions and changes, both physiological and psychological, will definitely occur. Especially a decrease in the function of muscles or organs that can result in a decrease in the ability to maintain body balance or posture in the elderly. The use of participating in Indonesian Healthy Gymnastics (SSI) is one alternative to keep muscle function working optimally This study aims to determine the relationship between active participation in Indonesian Healthy Gymnastics (SSI) with the body balance of the elderly in Krapyak Matesih Village, Karanganyar. The design of this study used descriptive correlation and cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The number of respondents in this study were 33 respondents. The instrument used is the presence of Indonesian healthy gymnastics (SSI) with the BBS (Berg Balance Scale) questionnaire. This study uses the Spearman rank statistical test, which shows that there is a relationship between active participation in Indonesian healthy gymnastics (SSI) and body balance with a p-value of 0.01 <α = 0.05, so H1 is accepted. There is a relationship between active participation in Indonesian Healthy Gymnastics (SSI) with the balance of the elderly body.
