Abstract
The role of mosques in improving Islamic religious education is that mosques are not only used as places of worship to pray five times a day. However, there are other activities that must be implemented in the mosque, such as, the mosque is used as a place of prayer and dhikr, the mosque as a place of consultation, the mosque as a place of education, the mosque as a gathering place, a place to solve muamalah problems, and the mosque as a place for deliberation and social activities. this was done when the time of the Prophet SAW who made the mosque as a place of education to improve the religion of Islam. And also the role of mosques in promoting Islam is contained in Ahmad Sjalaby's book which mentions the role of mosques as a place of worship, learning to study religion, a place to get justice, and a place for deliberation and social activities. The purpose of this study is to find out what has been implemented by the mosque and also the obstacles experienced in carrying out the role of the mosque to improve Islamic religious education. By using the type of research that is field. That is research conducted directly in the field. And obtain data with the results of interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study said that the role of the mosque that was run at the Al-Huda Gondosari mosque was able to follow or implement in accordance with what was exemplified by the Prophet SAW. By making the mosque a place of worship that is crowded with Gondosari pilgrims who come. The mosque is also used as a place of education by forming TPQ and conducting studies from all circles of children, adults, to the elderly. Other roles have also been able to be applied in the Al-Huda Gondosari mosque.
