Abstract
Paving block is a composition of building materials made from a mixture of cement, water and aggregate with or without other additives. The use of paving blocks is generally for sidewalks, environmental road pavements, parking lots to yards, of course the use of paving blocks uses the type of concrete quality according to its function. Paving blocks are in great demand by the public, because one of the factors is that it is not difficult to install and easy to maintain, paving blocks are considered quite better than other hardening. The manufacture of paving blocks generally consists of two methods, namely the mechanical compaction method and the manual compaction method. The addition of other elements in the production of paving blocks can be done to achieve its own purpose, such as the addition of rice husk ash waste which has the aim of increasing the compressive strength and water absorption of a paving block. The rice husk ash waste is first cleaned of other objects and filtered through a sieve no. 4. In this study, the composition of cement and sand sizes was used 1: 5. The new element used was rice husk ash which had been cleaned and filtered through sieve no. 4 where this mixture has a mixture percentage of 0%, 5%, 7% and 11% by weight of cement. The total samples made were 60 units. The dimensions of the research that the researchers conducted used a size of 20 cm x 10 cm x 6 cm. Making paving blocks using the manual collision method by adding an impact load weighing 4kg with a height of 40cm for 12 times of impact. Based on the research results, the researchers obtained the highest average compressive strength value of paving blocks without the addition of other elements was 9,444 MPa, while the lowest average compressive strength value was 8,278 MPa when mixed with 11% rice husk ash waste. The largest average crushing strength value is 6 times the impact on the paving block without a mixture and the smallest value is the average impact strength is 3.6 times the impact on the paving block with a variation of 11% rice husk ash waste mixture. Meanwhile, the largest average water absorption value is 1.306% on paving blocks with a mixture of 11% kumbung stone waste and the smallest average water absorption value is 1.025% on unmixed paving blocks.
