Abstract
Background: diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with an increasing number of sufferers. In the elderly diabetes mellitus is a pathophysiological process due to aging, diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease, which requires a large incurable, this is what causes most of the recovery risk. Purpose: climate change in the elderly with diabetes mellietus in the pusas cartasura health center. Methods: quantitative research using a descriptive research design conducted on 52 elderly respondents with diabetes mellitus selected based on established selection criteria. Results: Characteristics of respondents for DM in Puskesmas Kartasura average participation between 50-59 years, most women with high school education, and most as housewives. Discussion: Depression in old age will be closely related to the aging process that occurs in old age, in a phase that often occurs physical and mental changes leading to decreased function. Precipitating factors are increasingly difficult for sufferers because of the greater amount of social support, non-acceptance will affect what they experience. This is what raises a sense of depression in diabetics. In addition, depression experienced by people with diabetes mellitus can increase the risk of complications in diabetes mellitus itself such as hyperglycemia, insulin, resistance, microvascular and macrovascular. Loss, a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus increases the risk of depression in someone or even makes someone worse suffering from depression. Conclusion: Based on the analytical test obtained by the majority of elderly people with diabetes mellitus in Kartasura puskesmas increased mild depression.
