Abstract
Crime is the behavior of certain individuals who have violated social norms and legal norms so that society firmly opposes every crime that exists. Crime or crime essentially arises because of many factors such as poverty, unemployment, and so on. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of poverty, GDP per capita, unemployment and minimum wages on crime in Surakarta residency in 2015-2020. The data used in this method is secondary data. The data analysis method used in this study is panel data regression. The results of the model selection test prove that the fixed effect model (FEM) was chosen as the best model. The results of the partial significance test prove that poverty has an effect on crime in the Surakarta Residency during the 2015–2020 period at a level of = 0.05 and GRDP per capita has an effect on crime at a level of = 0.01. Meanwhile, unemployment and minimum wages have no effect on crime in the Surakarta residency during the 2015–2020 period with of 0.10. The coefficient of determination (R2) indicates the predictability of the estimated model. It can be seen that the R2 value is 0.912875, meaning that 91.29% of the variation in the crime variable can be explained by the variables of poverty, per capita GRDP, unemployment and minimum wage variables. The rest, 8.71%, is influenced by other variables or factors that are not included in the model.
