Abstract
This study aims to (1) describe the role of the pottery business for the community in Pagerjurang Hamlet, (2) the obstacles faced by the pottery business in an effort to reduce the number of unemployed, (3) the criteria for the success of the pottery business in reducing the number of unemployed. This research uses qualitative research with case study design. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques used in this research are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that (1) the role of the pottery business for the community in Pagerjurang Hamlet is to provide employment, reduce the number of unemployed and increase income, (2) the obstacles faced by the pottery business in an effort to reduce the number of unemployed are the covid-19 pandemic, limited raw materials , business capital and less skilled human resources, (3) the success criteria for pottery business in an effort to reduce the number of unemployed are shown by increasing the scale of business and increasing the economic welfare of the community.
