Abstract

The tourism sector is a sector that has the potential to develop the country's economic resources. In order to promote community welfare and increase village and local government income in the Mulur Reservoir area, it is necessary to strive for regional development to maximize existing resources and potential. Mulur Reservoir, which is located in Mulur Village, Bendosari District, Sukoharjo Regency, has several potentials that can be developed. However, over time the Sukoharjo Mulur Reservoir has decreased in function and environmental quality caused by environmental degradation, such as the destruction of tourist facilities, accumulation of garbage, the emergence of illegal buildings, as well as reduced reservoir water discharge and siltation arising from the deposition of mud in the reservoir. Thus, the Sukoharjo Mulur Reservoir area has experienced irregularity in the structure of the mass and building. Based on these problems, the author proposes a development of a waterfront tourist area with a recreational waterfront typology that functions as a recreation area area, which is able to provide education to tourists who visit the relationship between the natural environment and humans, as well as cultural localities that are almost destroyed. This can be achieved through the application of the concept of an eco-culture approach which is applied to the development of recreational waterfront areas. By applying an eco-culture approach, it is hoped that the Mulur Reservoir area will become a recreation area oriented to buildings, culture and natural balance.
