Abstract

The relationship between humans and the environment influence each other in the survival of life. The problem, which was formed in the canal area of the West Papua Fakfak Waste Settlement, became the main play of the destruction of the residential environmental ecosystem in waste seawater by households. The settlements formed in the canal area of the Reclamation Settlement cannot be separated from human intervention in the residential environment. Damage to the residential environment results in various impacts, not achieving comfort and public health in the residential environment. Environmental prevention in the sea water canal area has not been fully carried out by the local community, in fact gradually the number of dwellings continues to grow and causes sea water pollution from the generated household waste. This problem is included in the structural problem of the residential environment so that there is a need for continuity in the process of structuring and structuring urban problems, especially the Fakfak Settlement Area, which is in accordance with the "Urban Catalyst". In the urban catalytic concept, architectural design can be a catalyst for the process of structuring and rejuvenating an area. This gives more meaning to the storage process, where the important point of this conception is “design as a catalyst”. The purpose of the design based on the Urban Catalyst Concept is a structural change and rearrangement that focuses on areas formed in seawater canals and utilizes the potential of seawater as a water-based tourism area for sustainable urban parks that can educate and empower the community against the effects of waste and become its own icon in Fakfak City. The settlement arrangement in the sea water canal area will be reconstructed structurally through hardening the edges of the sea water canal.
