Abstract
This study aims to identify the conditions for the occurrence of social stratification, to analyze the characteristics of social stratification, and the last is to analyze the class between Balram and the landlord in the movie The White Tiger (2021). In this research, the researcher using a social stratification theory by Pitirim Alexandrovich Sorokin. This research is included in qualitative research by focusing on analyzing the formation of social stratification and the characteristics of social stratification. The data analysis technique in this study is descriptive analysis. From this study, three findings were found based on the formulation of the problem. First, the fundamental cause of social stratification. The author finds three conditions, including living together, innate differences of individuals, and environmental differences. Second landlord the characteristics of social stratification. These characteristics include bodily differences, differences of vitality and health, and differences of intelligent and mental characteristics. Third, , the social status of the main character and the. There are two kinds of social status, upper class and lower class.
