Abstract
Background: Stunting is a condition of chronic malnutrition due to lack of nutrient intake for a long time. The prevalence of stunting in children aged 2-5 years in Banaran Village in November 2021 is 8.1%. Knowledge of maternal nutrition and exclusive breastfeeding contribute to the prevention of stunting in children. Objective: This study aimed to determine the correlation between nutrition knowledge of mothers and exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting in children (2-5 years). Methods: This research used a cross-sectional design, the research sample was 50 children aged 2-5 years, obtained by simple random sampling. Data were obtained using a questionnaire and weighing registration book. Results: The majority of mothers had good nutrition knowledge 62%, and children under five do not get exclusive breastfeeding were 86%. The incidence of stunting in children (2-5 years) in Banaran Village, 60% non-stunted and 40% stunting. The Chi-square test between knowledge of maternal nutrition and the incidence of stunting in children, p-value = 0.405. Fisher-exact test between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in children, p-value = 0.202. Conclusion: There was no correlation between knowledge of maternal nutrition and exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting in children (2-5 years).
