Abstract

Indonesia is a developing country with a lot of cultural diversity with various characteristics that differ from each region. One of these cultures is Chinese culture which later forms an area, namely Chinatown. The city of Lasem with the development of the Chinatown area has made this city crowned Le Petit Chinos. The potential of Le Petit Chinos as a cultural area is constrained by the lack of public space and processing space, so efforts are needed for them to develop and introduce culture to the world. The Chinatown area also has a variety of architectures with acculturation between Chinese and Javanese cultures. The Cultural Space design plan in the Chinatown area of Lasem City applies the concept of symbiotic architecture. Symbiotic architecture is a concept with a theory of acculturation approaches between different cultures within an entity, that are interconnected with one another. After knowing the function of the Chinatown Area as an active area that was formed since its initial development with an area with historical and cultural values, the preservation of the area is an effort to realize the sustainability of the area with functions that have been formed since the beginning. Cultural Space as a public creative space is a place to accommodate activities in educational and cultural activities in Lasem City
