Abstract

In their academic journey, students are required to write a thesis which is one of the requirements for graduating from college. Not infrequently in writing thesis students find many obstacles. These barriers can be in the form of internal or external barriers. These obstacles can affect the thesis process, such as delaying and being lazy to work on the thesis which causes the thesis to be neglected. Students need optimism in order to get through these difficulties, this is because optimism is positively correlated with work and negatively related to procrastination. When individuals encounter difficulties then the first thing they do is seek support and help from those around them. The support obtained helps the individual feel that help will always be there when he needs it. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between social support and optimism in undergraduate thesis students. The subjects of this research are college students/college students and are currently compiling a thesis. The number taken as many as 200 people using purposive sampling technique. This research is quantitative research. Data collection uses two scales, namely the social support scale and the optimism scale distributed through the google form link. Data analysis used the Pearson product moment correlation method with a value of r = 0.470 with a significance of 0.000 (p <0.05). The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between social support and optimism in students writing thesis.
