Abstract

The rainy season is marked by high rainfall resulting in an increase in the volume of river water which has the potential for flooding. This is very disturbing, also disrupts human activities, and causes harm to humans. Actually, public awareness is needed to maintain the surrounding environment by not littering in order to avoid flooding. Therefore, flood warning and early detection is the first step to provide information to the community in order to reduce losses when a flood hits. So, the author will make a prototype to monitor and detect IoT (Internet of Things) based flood early. The plan is that this prototype can provide information on our cellphones about the water level of rivers or dams in real time. When the water rises to a certain extent or overflows, then with this prototype it will give a warning to our cellphone. This prototype uses NodeMCU as the microcontroller and ultrasonic sensors are used to detect the distance of the water level. Monitoring results can be seen through the blynk application which is connected to a NodeMCU that is already connected to a Wifi network. This prototype has been tested and can work according to the author's design and the system can work well.
