Abstract

HHO gas is a product of the electrolysis which is decomposition of water molecules (H2O) into hydrogen dan oxygen molecules using by a HHO generator. The addition of a catalyst in electrolyzed water can be acceleration the production of the resulting gas. Hydrogen gas has the characteristics of being brunted and oxygen can be used the combustion process make this gas can be alternative fuel. This research have a purpose know the effect addition of HHO gas result by electrolysis with variation catalyst in the form of NaCl, NaOH, and KOH to performance of four stroke engines. Addition of HHO gas is done by injected through the intake manifold into the combustion chamber. The method used is experimental and the research was carried out using a dynotest on a Honda Supra X 125cc and the results show that rise 6 performance motor after addited of HHO gas. Of the three types of catalysts used, the order of the best performance results was obtained with the use of KOH, NaOH, and NaCl catalysts. Where obtained the highest torque of 9.78 Nm at 4500 rpm engine speed. The highest power produced is 7.73 HP at 6500 rpm engine speed and has the lowest specific fuel consumption value of 0.152 kg/hour.HP at 6500 rpm engine speed so that it can be said that the use of HHO gas can also save fuel.
