Abstract

Economic growth and employment are important economic variables in a region. Economic growth is the increase in the ability of an economy to produce goods and services. When there is an increase in production capacity, the company will increase the number of workers in order to achieve the production target. Economic growth is usually followed by a declining unemployment rate, which will increase employment in the region. This study aims to observe the causality pattern between economic growth and employment in Central Java Province during the years 2000- 2019 by using the Granger Causality Test. The results showed that the Granger causality test results showed that the variable labor absorption and economic growth did not have a causal relationship as well as the variable economic growth and employment, so that employment had no effect on economic growth and economic growth did not affect employment. work. . The Central Java Provincial Government is expected to be able to encourage the economy through improving the quality of the workforce, so that the workforce has special abilities and will be more easily absorbed by job opportunities.
