Abstract

Batteries are one of the components that supply electricity in substations. To support smooth performance in supplying electrical energy needs to consumers, equipment with optimal performance is needed, DC power sources are one of the important components in supporting performance at substations. At the 150 KV Mojosongo Boyolali substation, the protection equipment is equipped with a DC power source, namely a 110 Volt DC battery whose function is to maintain the stability of the DC power source in the substation system. If there is a blackout or interference with electrical equipment at the substation, the battery can be relied on to meet the DC power source. Therefore, the DC power source provided by the battery in the protection equipment must be able to meet the DC power source needs in a blackout state or without a charger. Therefore, Routine testing and maintenance of batteries is very necessary to support the smoothness and performance of the substation. So that if there are problems or disturbances in the electrical equipment system at the substation, the battery performance can be relied on. This research was conducted to determine the reliability and feasibility of the 110 VDC battery at the 150 KV Mojosongo Substation. The results showed that the voltage of each battery cell was in full charge with an average battery voltage of 1.69 V and there was no significant difference in voltage across the battery cells. The condition of the electrolyte in the battery is still good and still meets the standard with a specific gravity of 1.20 kg/L and a temperature of 32°C. Based on the battery capacity test, it can be concluded that the 110 VDC battery at the 150 KV Mojosongo Substation is still reliable because after 5 hours of testing, the NiCd battery at the 150 KV Mojosongo Substation has a final voltage of 98.8 VDC, this value still meets the minimum standard of IEEE and PT. PLN, which is 80% of the full voltage.
