Abstract

To achieve a shared vision and mission, management is needed in managing the family. In the management of the family, someone who is recognized as the leader or head of the family is needed. In general, the position of the head of the family is occupied by a man or a husband. The Qur'an discusses the problem of leadership management in the family in QS. An-Nisā (3): 34. In this case the researcher will compare two of interpretation, namely Tafsir Fī Ẓilāl al-Qur’ān by Sayyid Qutb and Tafsīr al-Wasīṭ by Wahbah Az-Zuhaili. The formulation of the problem from this research is how the similarities and differences in the interpretation of QS. An-Nisā' (3): 34 regarding leadership in the family according to Sayyid Qutb in Tafsir Fī Ẓilāl al-Qur'ān and Wahbah Az-Zuhaili in Tafsīr al-Wasīṭ. In order to answer the formulation of the problem, the researcher uses library research by applying comparative methods to analyze the data. The results of this research, Sayyid Qutb in his interpretatiton Fī Ẓilāl al-Qur’ān and Wahbah az-Zuhaili in his interpretatiton Tafsīr al-Wasīṭ both concluded that this verse is in the family context and the man are the holders of the leading role in the family. The difference between the two interpretatitons is that Wahbah az-Zuhaili in Tafsīr al-Wasīṭ emphasizes that the husband's inability to provide a living will invalidate the husband's right of leadership over his wife. Meanwhile, Sayyid Qutb in Fī Ẓilāl al-Qur’ān does not explicitly state the position of livelihood for family leadership, but indirectly Sayyid Qutb argues that men are still more important to be leader in the family regardless of the conditions.
