Abstract
The postpartum period is a period that has a risk of death during the puerperium including complications during the puerperium due to lack of knowledge of postpartum mothers, approximately 60% of maternal deaths after childbirth and almost 50% of postpartum deaths that occur during the first 24 hours postpartum. labor. One of the causes of maternal death during the 2 puerperium is due to complications during the puerperium due to lack of knowledge so that many postpartum mothers do not realize that they are experiencing the danger signs of puerperium. Improving knowledge, practice, and attitudes of postpartum mothers in postpartum care can be done by providing health education, the use of interesting media will be more effective in providing health education. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of increasing maternal knowledge, practice and attitudes about postpartum care through health education using video and WhatsApp media at “K” Health Center Palembang. This type of research is quasi-experimental, with a two group pretest posttest design. The sample in this study were postpartum mothers, at the “K” Health Center in Palembang, totaling 43 respondents and were grouped into two consisting of 22 respondents in the group using video media and 21 group respondents using Whatsapp media. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The research instrument used a knowledge, practice and attitude questionnaire about postpartum care. Research result. The results of the statistical test showed that mother's knowledge using whatsapp media (10.48) had a higher effectiveness than using video media (8.14). Mother's practice using whatsapp media (25.95) has a higher effectiveness than using video media (18.23). Mother's attitude by using whatsapp media (26,19) has a higher effectiveness than using video media (18). So that the value of whatsapp media > video media, then the provision of whatsapp media is more effective than video media.
