Abstract

Hypertension is a blood circulation disorder that causes blood pressure to rise above normal. Compliance in carrying out treatment therapy is a way to control the patient's blood pressure in order to achieve the effectiveness of therapy and improve the patient's quality of life. While spirituality can mean acceptance of God, it can be accompanied by efforts and endeavors to get healing. The normal spiritual pattern is closely related to health, because from this pattern it can create a form of adaptive or maladaptive behavior related to the acceptance of one's condition. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between spiritual quality and adherence in the treatment of hypertension sufferers at the Gatak Health Center Sukoharjo. The research method used is descriptive quantitative method. The sampling method used in this study used a non-probability sampling method with a purposive sampling technique by setting the previous criteria. The number of respondents in this study were 70 respondents. The instrument used is a questionnaire. Using two questionnaires, namely a spiritual quality questionnaire with 13 questions and a medication adherence questionnaire with 16 questions that the researcher modified. The results of this study indicate the majority of high spiritual quality respondents as many as 66 respondents (94.3%) and low spiritual quality as many as 4 respondents (95.7%) while treatment adherence which has compliance as many as 64 respondents (91.4%) and non-adherence as many as 6 respondents (8.6%). The data processing technique uses Chi-Square. Based on the results of statistical analysis, it was found that p-value = 0.034 with a significant value of p <0.05. So that there is a relationship between spiritual quality and medication adherence in patients with hypertension at the Gatak Sukoharjo Health Center. Suggestions for respondents who have low spiritual quality and medication adherence are expected to improve spiritual quality and improve medication adherence that has been done and obey the recommendations given by health workers.
