Abstract
This study aims to describe the teacher's role in increasing student learning activity, identify the inhibiting and supporting factors of the teacher's role in increasing student learning activity in the Class XII Economics subject at SMA Batik 2 Surakarta in the 2020/2021 academic year. This research is a qualitative approach with case study research design. The subjects of this study were the principal, the Economics teacher at SMA Batik 2 Surakarta, and two students who had taken the Economics class XII class at SMA Batik 2 Surakarta. Data collection techniques used are interview, observation, and documentation. The validity of the research used is triangulation of sources and techniques. Data analysis techniques are carried out through the process of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The result of the research is that the teacher's role in classroom management is as a teacher and educator, besides that the teacher also becomes a facilitator for students. The inhibiting factor for the teacher's role in the learning process is the learning process which can only be held online , making it difficult for teachers to evaluate studentsstudent engagementbecause they cannot meet face to face, while the supporting factor for the teacher's role in the learning process is the facilities provided by the school. in the form of teacher support tools to carry out online learning, a flexible curriculum in addition to providing quotas to support the maximum online learning process. For further researchers who want to conduct similar research, in order to expand the scope of research, not only aspects of the teacher's role.
