Abstract

Background: Hypertension is an increase in arterial blood pressure 130-139 mmHg (systolic) 80-89 mmHg (diastolic) for stage 1 hypertension and stage 2 hypertension 140 mmHg and diastolic 90 mmHg. Hypertension causes degenerative diseases to death. One of the prevention of hypertension complications is the application of self-management behavior with the aim of optimizing daily disease management by controlling self-management behavior so that the factors that influence the risk of increasing hypertension and also hypertension complications can be controlled properly. Objective: to determine the relationship between self-management behavior and blood pressure values in hypertension sufferers at the Jatipuro Health Center, Karanganyar Regency. Methods: This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional design. The research sample amounted to 45 respondents with a total sampling technique. The data collection method used a Self-Management Behavior Questionnaire (HSMBQ) questionnaire and the measurement of blood pressure values using a Sphygmomanometer. The data analysis method used the rank-spearman test. Results: The majority are female 38 respondents (84.4%), the majority are farmers 22 respondents (48%), the majority are primary school education 19 respondents (42.2%). The majority aged >65 years in the elderly category were 19 respondents (42.2%). The majority do not smoke 37 respondents (82.2%). The majority have the ability to self-management behavior in the category of less than 25 respondents (55.6%). The majority of blood pressure values were in the category 2 hypertension category with a value (systolic 140 mmHg, diastolic 90 mmHg) in 25 respondents (56.7%). Based on the rank-spearman test, it was found that there was a relationship between self-management behavior and the blood pressure value of patients with hypertension.
